Custom Size Thermal Transfer Ribbon in India — What's Possible and How to Order

Standard thermal transfer ribbons come in a limited set of widths — typically 40mm, 60mm, 80mm, 110mm, and 130mm. These cover the majority of applications, but many industries need sizes outside this range:

- Garment wash-care labels: often as narrow as 25–35mm - Industrial drum labels: may require 150–160mm width - Specialty medical labels: non-standard widths for custom label stock - OEM applications: exact width matching to proprietary label formats

Using a 110mm ribbon on a 50mm label wastes 60mm per label — doubling your ribbon cost. Using too-narrow ribbon on a wide label leaves unprinted edges and causes ribbon tracking problems.

1. Measure your label width — this is the feed width of the label through your printer, measured perpendicular to the feed direction. 2. Add 5–10mm — your ribbon should be 5–10mm wider than your label. 3. Determine core size — check your existing ribbon or printer manual. 4. Determine winding direction — check your printer's ribbon slot orientation or existing ribbon label. 5. Specify quantity and length — longer rolls reduce changeover frequency.

For custom widths (non-standard): minimum order is typically 24–50 rolls depending on width. For very narrow ribbons (<40mm), we slit multiple ribbons from the same parent roll — minimum quantities may be lower.

For standard widths: no minimum order. You can order as few as 1 roll.
