Toshiba thermal transfer ribbon sizes follow the printer. The B-EV4T is a desktop that takes 110m rolls on a ½ inch core, ink side out. The B-SA4T takes 450m on a 1 inch core, also ink side out. The B-EX4T2 takes up to 600m on a 1 inch core, wound inside or outside as set in the printer. The table gives the usual size, core and winding for each model from Toshiba's own documents. Toshiba asks for a ribbon at least 5mm wider than the label.

Which Toshiba thermal transfer ribbon for which label
The label decides the grade, not the printer. Find your label material below, then open the grade for its specification. Wax suits paper labels, wax-resin suits coated paper and light synthetics, and resin suits polyester, polypropylene and other films.

Toshiba TEC desktop and industrial printers take different rolls
Toshiba's ribbon rules follow the printer. The B-EV4T is a desktop printer with a ½ inch core: Toshiba's owner's manual gives ribbon 33.8mm to 110mm wide with a roll diameter of up to 40mm, and its supply specification sets the longest roll at 110m. The B-SA4T and B-EX4T2 use a 1 inch core, which is why a roll from one family does not fit the other.
The B-SA4T takes ribbon 60mm to 110mm wide, up to 450m, with a roll diameter of up to 75mm. The B-EX4T2 takes ribbon 41mm to 112mm wide, up to 600m, with a roll diameter of up to 90mm when the ribbon is wound outside and 80mm when it is wound inside.
Inside or outside wound on the B-EX4T2, and outside only on the others
On the B-EV4T and B-SA4T, Toshiba states the ink side plainly: the ink surface faces outside. Order outside wound ribbon for both.
The B-EX4T2 is different. Toshiba's manual shows two ways of loading the ribbon, one for outside wound ribbon and one for inside wound ribbon, and says the winding in use is set in the printer's system mode. So before you order, check the setting as well as the roll in the printer, and tell us which winding you want. Toshiba's own ribbon specification for the printer describes ribbon wound outside, and the smaller 80mm maximum roll diameter applies to inside wound rolls.
Toshiba's advice on approved ribbon
Toshiba's B-EX4T2 and B-EV4T manuals ask for ribbon approved by Toshiba TEC and say the warranty does not apply to problems caused by non-approved ribbon. If your printer is under warranty, ask Toshiba TEC first; otherwise run our free sample on your own printer and labels before you order volume.
Two width rules come from Toshiba's manuals. Use a ribbon at least 5mm wider than the media, and do not use a ribbon narrower than the media. The B-EX4T2 manual pairs 41mm ribbon with 30mm to 36mm media, 68mm with 45mm to 63mm, and 112mm with 79mm to 108mm, because a ribbon much wider than the label can wrinkle too.
Send the printer model, label width, core size, winding, roll length and number of rolls. Standard sizes have no minimum order. Widths run from 25mm to 160mm and lengths from 50m to 600m, and MSDS is available on request.

Either. Toshiba's manual shows an outside wound and an inside wound way of loading, and says the winding is chosen in the printer's system mode. The maximum roll diameter is 90mm for outside wound ribbon and 80mm for inside wound. Tell us which your stock is and we cut that.
