About the CP-2140
The CP-2140 is a compact Argox desktop printer at 203dpi with a 104mm print width. Argox's manual gives ribbon from 1 to 4.33 inches (25.4mm to 110mm) wide, up to 300m long, with a roll diameter of up to 67mm on a 1-inch core. The manual's introduction also mentions a 360m ribbon, but its specification table says 300m, so 300m is the figure to order by. The printer packs two ribbon core adaptors, which you fit before loading. The supply holder takes ribbon coated side in or out. The pick-up holder, where the empty core winds up, takes the coated side out only, so wind the used ribbon onto the empty core the way the manual shows. Plain paper labels run on wax (CW-11, CW-12). Polyester and polypropylene labels need wax-resin or resin, such as CW-22 or CW-28.

Ribbon specification
The supply holder takes ink-in or ink-out ribbon; the pick-up holder takes ink-out only.
110mm × 300m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it: you can order a narrower width that is still a few millimetres wider than your label, so less ribbon overhangs and goes to waste.

The printer does not decide the grade — the label material and the conditions it has to survive do.

Loading ribbon in a Argox printer
Core sizes: 1 inch on the X-1000VL, X-2000V and CP-2140; ½ inch, notched, on the OS-214 Plus and OS-2140. Winding: the X series takes either and ships set for ink side in; the CP-2140 supply holder takes either but its pick-up holder takes ink side out only; the OS series takes outside wound ribbon. Argox lists the OS-2140 and OS-214 Plus as discontinued. Ask us to confirm your model.

What ribbon size does the Argox CP-2140 use?+
110mm × 300m on a 1" core, inside or outside wound. At 300m a roll covers roughly 3,000 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.
Is the CP-2140 inside or outside wound?+
It accepts both inside- and outside-wound ribbon. Tell us which your current rolls are and we will match them.
Which ribbon grade should I use in a CP-2140?+
Grade follows the label, not the printer. Desktop units like the CP-2140 are most often paired with paper stock, where wax (CW-11 or CW-12) is the right grade. Move to wax-resin only if the label is coated or synthetic.
Can I get a free sample for my CP-2140?+
