About the M-Class Mark II
The M-Class Mark II is a Datamax compact industrial printer, at 203dpi on the M-4206 and M-4210 and 300dpi on the M-4306 and M-4308. Honeywell's data sheet gives ribbon width as 25.4mm to 114.3mm and rolls of 300m or 450m. Its operator's manual gives the core as 25.6mm, plus or minus 0.2mm, inner diameter, which is the 1-inch core. The manual shows a loading path for ribbon coated side in and another for coated side out, and names no optional part for either. The 110mm size is a convenient width for 4-inch labels, but the printer takes ribbon wider than that, up to 114.3mm, and we slit up to 160mm. Honeywell's migration guide lists the M-Class as discontinued, with the PD45 as its replacement. Wax covers paper labels (CW-11, CW-12), wax-resin covers coated paper (CW-20, CW-22), and resin CW-28 is listed for polyester, polypropylene, polyimide and film.

Ribbon specification
Honeywell gives rolls of 300m or 450m and a ribbon width up to 114.3mm.
110mm × 450m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it: you can order a narrower width that is still a few millimetres wider than your label, so less ribbon overhangs and goes to waste.
Which grade for a M-Class Mark II
The printer does not decide the grade — the label material and the conditions it has to survive do.
Uncoated paper labels (Datamax E-Class Mark III)
Matte, semi-gloss and coated paper labels (Datamax E-Class Mark III)
Coated paper, polyester and polypropylene labels (Datamax M-Class Mark II)
Polyester, polypropylene and film labels that meet chemicals or abrasion (Datamax I-Class Mark II)
Unsure? The ribbon selector narrows it in two questions, or see the full size chart listing the printer models we have checked.
Loading ribbon in a Datamax (Honeywell) printer
Core sizes: ½ inch on the E-Class Mark III, or 1 inch with Honeywell's ribbon core adapters; 1 inch on the M-Class and I-Class Mark II. Winding: all three take ribbon coated side in or coated side out, with no optional part named in Honeywell's documents. Honeywell's migration guide lists them as discontinued, so this page is for printers still in service. Ask us to confirm your model.
Datamax (Honeywell) M-Class Mark II ribbon — common questions
What ribbon size does the Datamax (Honeywell) M-Class Mark II use?+
110mm × 450m on a 1" core, inside or outside wound. At 450m a roll covers roughly 4,500 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.
Is the M-Class Mark II inside or outside wound?+
It accepts both inside- and outside-wound ribbon. Tell us which your current rolls are and we will match them.
Which ribbon grade should I use in a M-Class Mark II?+
Grade follows the label, not the printer. Industrial units like the M-Class Mark II usually run mixed media, so most sites keep a wax for paper and a wax-resin or resin for synthetics rather than compromising on one grade for both.
Can I get a free sample for my M-Class Mark II?+
Yes. We manufacture in Badli, New Delhi and send samples so you can print on your own M-Class Mark II with your own label stock before ordering volume. Wash-care and resin grades in particular are worth testing rather than taking on spec.
Need a size the M-Class Mark II does not take as standard? We slit 25mm – 160mm.
