Sato CL4NX Plusribbon size & type
Everything you need to order the right ribbon for a Sato CL4NX Plus: the size it takes, the core and winding, and which grade suits your label material.
About the CL4NX Plus
The Sato CL4NX Plus is the compliance printer of choice in Indian pharma, specified where print has to survive an audit rather than just a scan. Sato ribbon paths vary by configuration and both inside and outside wound are used in the field, so confirm winding before ordering — this is the model where getting it wrong is most likely, and a reversed ribbon prints nothing at all.
Ribbon specification
110mm × 300m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it — if your label is 60mm, order a 60mm ribbon rather than paying for 110mm and wasting the overhang.
Which grade for a CL4NX Plus
The printer does not decide the grade — the label material and the conditions it has to survive do. The CL4NX Plus runs all three families.
Pharma labels and high-clarity compliance printing (Sato CL4NX)
Industrial synthetic labels (Sato CL408e, CL412e)
Maximum durability outdoor and chemical-resistant labels (Sato CL6NX)
Standard paper labels for logistics (Sato WS408)

Loading ribbon in a Sato printer
Sato printers use a specific ribbon path — winding direction varies by model. Always specify your Sato model when ordering. CW-series ribbons are available in both inside wound and outside wound configurations.
Sato CL4NX Plus ribbon — common questions
What ribbon size does the Sato CL4NX Plus use?+
110mm × 300m on a 1" core, inside wound. At 300m a roll covers roughly 3,000 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.
Is the CL4NX Plus inside or outside wound?+
Inside wound. Load the opposite winding and the ink faces away from the label, so the page comes out blank — it reads as a printer fault but is a ribbon orientation problem.
Which ribbon grade should I use in a CL4NX Plus?+
Grade follows the label, not the printer. Industrial units like the CL4NX Plus usually run mixed media, so most sites keep a wax for paper and a wax-resin or resin for synthetics rather than compromising on one grade for both.
Can I get a free sample for my CL4NX Plus?+
Yes. We manufacture in Badli, New Delhi and send samples so you can print on your own CL4NX Plus with your own label stock before ordering volume. Wash-care and resin grades in particular are worth testing rather than taking on spec.
Need a size the CL4NX Plus does not take as standard? We slit 25mm – 160mm.
