Godex G500 / G530ribbon size & type

Everything you need to order the right ribbon for a Godex G500 / G530: the size it takes, the core and winding, and which grade suits your label material.

About the G500

The Godex G500 is the budget industrial choice for Indian small manufacturers and traders; the G530 is its 300dpi sibling. Both take 110mm x 300m on a 1-inch core. Godex spindles have less tolerance for slightly oversized cores than Zebra or TSC, so a core that is nominally 1 inch but loosely wound can bind. Core quality is worth checking specifically on these machines.

Custom widths available25mm – 160mm — slit to order
Custom lengths available50m – 600m

110mm × 300m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it — if your label is 60mm, order a 60mm ribbon rather than paying for 110mm and wasting the overhang.

Which grade for a G500

The printer does not decide the grade — the label material and the conditions it has to survive do. The G500 runs all three families.

Unsure? The ribbon selector narrows it in two questions, or see the full size chart covering every major printer.

Loading ribbon in a Godex printer

Godex printers are generally compatible with standard ribbon sizes. Most models use inside wound ribbon. For wide-format Godex models (RT700iW), confirm maximum ribbon width before ordering.

Godex G500 / G530 ribbon — common questions

What ribbon size does the Godex G500 / G530 use?+

110mm × 300m on a 1" core, inside wound. At 300m a roll covers roughly 3,000 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.

Is the G500 inside or outside wound?+

Inside wound. Load the opposite winding and the ink faces away from the label, so the page comes out blank — it reads as a printer fault but is a ribbon orientation problem.

Which ribbon grade should I use in a G500?+

Grade follows the label, not the printer. Desktop units like the G500 are most often paired with paper stock, where wax (CW-11 or CW-12) is correct and cheapest. Move to wax-resin only if the label is coated or synthetic.

Can I get a free sample for my G500?+

Yes. We manufacture in Badli, New Delhi and send samples so you can print on your own G500 with your own label stock before ordering volume. Wash-care and resin grades in particular are worth testing rather than taking on spec.

Need a size the G500 does not take as standard? We slit 25mm – 160mm.
