Godex RT700 / RT700i / RT700i+ ribbon — size, core and grade

The Godex RT700 / RT700i / RT700i+ takes 110mm × 300m ribbon on a 1" core.

Codewell Image manufactures that ribbon in Badli, New Delhi — wax, wax-resin and resin grades, slit to your label width, with a free sample before you order.

About the RT700

Godex's own documents cover the RT700i+ at 203dpi and the RT730i+ at 300dpi, with the RT700i Pro and RT730i Pro listed beside them. They print 108mm and 105.7mm wide at up to 7 and 5 inches a second. The earlier RT700i is not in a Godex-hosted document we could open, so read the plate on yours. For the models Godex documents, the ribbon is one size: 300m long, roll diameter up to 68mm, 1-inch core, 30mm to 110mm wide, and Godex names wax, wax/resin and resin as the types. That is the same ribbon block as the G500 and G530, which have their own page, so the difference between the two printers lies in the model names, not the roll. Godex states no winding for the RT700 series. Send the exact model name, with any plus or Pro, and a photo of the roll in the printer, and we confirm the winding against it.

110mm × 300m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it: you can order a narrower width that is still a few millimetres wider than your label, so less ribbon overhangs and goes to waste.

Which grade for a RT700

The printer does not decide the grade — the label material and the conditions it has to survive do.

Unsure? The ribbon selector narrows it in two questions, or see the full size chart listing the printer models we have checked.

Loading ribbon in a Godex printer

Ribbon size varies by Godex model: the RT200i takes 56–59mm on a ½ inch core, and the RT700 and G500 take up to 110mm on a 1 inch core. Winding varies by model — the EZ2250i accepts both; for desktop models, check your current roll or send us your model number.

Godex RT700 / RT700i / RT700i+ ribbon — common questions

What ribbon size does the Godex RT700 / RT700i / RT700i+ use?+

110mm × 300m on a 1" core. At 300m a roll covers roughly 3,000 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.

Is the RT700 inside or outside wound?+

Godex's documents for the RT700 do not state the winding, so check your current roll: scratch the outer surface with a fingernail — if it marks, the roll is outside wound. We make both and will match your roll.

Which ribbon grade should I use in a RT700?+

Grade follows the label, not the printer. Desktop units like the RT700 are most often paired with paper stock, where wax (CW-11 or CW-12) is the right grade. Move to wax-resin only if the label is coated or synthetic.

Can I get a free sample for my RT700?+

Yes. We manufacture in Badli, New Delhi and send samples so you can print on your own RT700 with your own label stock before ordering volume. Wash-care and resin grades in particular are worth testing rather than taking on spec.

Need a size the RT700 does not take as standard? We slit 25mm – 160mm.
