About the GK420T
The GK420t is the desktop Zebra with the largest installed base in India, and the model most often found in small retail and clinic settings. It takes only 74m ribbon on a half-inch core, so it burns through rolls quickly — buyers frequently try to fit a 300m industrial roll and find the spindle will not accept it. If ribbon changes are eating your day, the honest answer is usually a different printer rather than a different ribbon.
Ribbon specification
110mm × 74m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it — if your label is 60mm, order a 60mm ribbon rather than paying for 110mm and wasting the overhang.
Which grade for a GK420T
The printer does not decide the grade — the label material and the conditions it has to survive do. The GK420T runs all three families.

All CW-series ribbons are tested on Zebra printers. Core sizes: ½ inch and 1 inch. Winding: inside wound (standard for most Zebra models). Specify your model when ordering for confirmed compatibility.

What ribbon size does the Zebra GK420T use?+
110mm × 74m on a ½" core, inside wound. At 74m a roll covers roughly 740 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.
Is the GK420T inside or outside wound?+
Inside wound. Load the opposite winding and the ink faces away from the label, so the page comes out blank — it reads as a printer fault but is a ribbon orientation problem.
Which ribbon grade should I use in a GK420T?+
Grade follows the label, not the printer. Desktop units like the GK420T are most often paired with paper stock, where wax (CW-11 or CW-12) is correct and cheapest. Move to wax-resin only if the label is coated or synthetic.
Can I get a free sample for my GK420T?+
