Zebra ZD220Tribbon size & type
Everything you need to order the right ribbon for a Zebra ZD220T: the size it takes, the core and winding, and which grade suits your label material.
About the ZD220T
The ZD220t is Zebra's entry desktop thermal transfer model and a very common first barcode printer for Indian SMEs. Like the GK420t it takes 110mm x 74m on a half-inch core. Because it is often a first printer, the most frequent fault we see is not the ribbon at all — it is direct thermal label stock loaded into a thermal transfer printer, which prints faintly and gets diagnosed as a ribbon problem.
Ribbon specification
110mm × 74m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it — if your label is 60mm, order a 60mm ribbon rather than paying for 110mm and wasting the overhang.
Which grade for a ZD220T
The printer does not decide the grade — the label material and the conditions it has to survive do. The ZD220T runs all three families.
Paper labels — shipping, retail, inventory (Zebra GK420t, ZD420)
Pharma and compliance labels on coated paper (Zebra ZT230, ZT410)
Synthetic labels — polyester, polypropylene (Zebra ZT420, ZT610)
Nylon and satin garment labels (Zebra GX430t)
Unsure? The ribbon selector narrows it in two questions, or see the full size chart covering every major printer.
Loading ribbon in a Zebra printer
All CW-series ribbons are tested on Zebra printers. Core sizes: ½ inch and 1 inch. Winding: inside wound (standard for most Zebra models). Specify your model when ordering for confirmed compatibility.
Zebra ZD220T ribbon — common questions
What ribbon size does the Zebra ZD220T use?+
110mm × 74m on a ½" core, inside wound. At 74m a roll covers roughly 740 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.
Is the ZD220T inside or outside wound?+
Inside wound. Load the opposite winding and the ink faces away from the label, so the page comes out blank — it reads as a printer fault but is a ribbon orientation problem.
Which ribbon grade should I use in a ZD220T?+
Grade follows the label, not the printer. Desktop units like the ZD220T are most often paired with paper stock, where wax (CW-11 or CW-12) is correct and cheapest. Move to wax-resin only if the label is coated or synthetic.
Can I get a free sample for my ZD220T?+
Yes. We manufacture in Badli, New Delhi and send samples so you can print on your own ZD220T with your own label stock before ordering volume. Wash-care and resin grades in particular are worth testing rather than taking on spec.
Need a size the ZD220T does not take as standard? We slit 25mm – 160mm.
