Zebra ZT111 ribbon — size, core and grade
The Zebra ZT111 takes 110mm × 450m ribbon on a 1" core, outside wound (ink side out).

About the ZT111
The ZT111 is a Zebra industrial printer at 203 or 300dpi with a 104mm print width. Zebra's tech sheet gives one ribbon: up to 450m, with a roll diameter of up to 81.3mm, on a 1-inch core, wound ink side out. Width runs from 40mm to 110mm, within our 25–160mm slitting range, and 40mm is the narrowest width Zebra specifies, so for a label narrower than that you are outside the stated range even though we slit from 25mm. Zebra's guide asks for ribbon wider than the media, which protects the printhead. Paper labels run on wax (CW-11, CW-12). Polyester and polypropylene labels need wax-resin or resin, such as CW-22 or CW-28. Tell us the label width and whether the optional spindle is fitted, and we cut to match.

Ribbon specification
Inside-wound ribbon fits only with Zebra's optional ribbon spindle.
110mm × 450m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it: you can order a narrower width that is still a few millimetres wider than your label, so less ribbon overhangs and goes to waste.
Load the ribbon the right way round
Zebra's guide says the ZT111 uses ribbon coated on the outside as standard. It also says the supply and take-up spindles must use the same tension setting, and that for narrow ribbon, or if the ribbon scuffs at the start of a roll or stalls near the end, you can switch both spindles to low tension by pushing in the end caps. Use ribbon wider than the media.

Loading ribbon in a Zebra printer
Core sizes: ½ inch and 1 inch. Winding: Zebra desktops (GK, GX, GC) take outside-wound ribbon only. For the ZD series, Zebra's guides do not state the ink side, so we confirm the winding against your roll before dispatch. The ZT230, ZT231 and 105SL Plus are outside only; the ZT410, ZT420, ZT610 and ZT620 take outside wound as standard, and inside wound only with Zebra's optional spindle. Specify your model when ordering for confirmed compatibility.

What ribbon size does the Zebra ZT111 use?+
110mm × 450m on a 1" core, outside wound (ink side out). At 450m a roll covers roughly 4,500 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.
Is the ZT111 inside or outside wound?+
Outside wound — the ink side faces out. Load an inside-wound roll instead and the ink faces away from the label, so the label comes out blank; that reads as a printer fault but is a winding problem. Inside-wound ribbon fits only with Zebra's optional ribbon spindle.
Which ribbon grade should I use in a ZT111?+
Grade follows the label, not the printer. Industrial units like the ZT111 usually run mixed media, so most sites keep a wax for paper and a wax-resin or resin for synthetics rather than compromising on one grade for both.
