About the PC42t
The Honeywell PC42t is a desktop printer that sites often run several of side by side. The original PC42t takes a 1-inch core; some later PC42t Plus versions use a half-inch core with 75m rolls, so two ribbon sizes can end up in the same building and get mixed up. Standardising on one core across a site removes a whole class of stoppage. Honeywell gives 300m as the maximum on a 1-inch core for the PC42t Plus; its guide for the original model states no length.

Ribbon specification
110mm × 300m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it: you can order a narrower width that is still a few millimetres wider than your label, so less ribbon overhangs and goes to waste.

Honeywell printers typically accept standard ribbon sizes. The PC42t takes outside-wound ribbon only; the PM42, PM43 and PX940 accept both. Most use a 1-inch core; some compact PC42t Plus versions use ½-inch. Confirm with your printer manual or contact us.

What ribbon size does the Honeywell PC42t use?+
110mm × 300m on a 1" core, outside wound (ink side out). At 300m a roll covers roughly 3,000 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.
Is the PC42t inside or outside wound?+
Outside wound — the ink side faces out. Load an inside-wound roll instead and the ink faces away from the label, so the label comes out blank; that reads as a printer fault but is a winding problem.
Which ribbon grade should I use in a PC42t?+
Grade follows the label, not the printer. Desktop units like the PC42t are most often paired with paper stock, where wax (CW-11 or CW-12) is the right grade. Move to wax-resin only if the label is coated or synthetic.
