Honeywell PD45S / PD45 ribbon — size, core and grade
The Honeywell PD45S / PD45 takes 110mm × 450m ribbon on a 1" core, inside or outside wound.
Codewell Image manufactures that ribbon in Badli, New Delhi — wax, wax-resin and resin grades, slit to your label width, with a free sample before you order.
About the PD45S
The PD45S and PD45 are Honeywell industrial label printers, at 203 or 300dpi with a print width of 108mm or 105.7mm. Honeywell does not give a fixed ribbon length. It specifies a maximum roll diameter of 80mm on a 1-inch core and describes that as about 450m, so treat 450m as approximate and check the diameter of the rolls you run now. Ribbon width runs from 51mm to 110mm; anything under 51mm is outside Honeywell's stated range, even though we slit from 25mm. The data sheet lists inner carbon or outer carbon, and the user guide says the ribbon can have its ink-coated side facing either inward or outward. Honeywell names no optional part for either, so tell us your winding and we cut that. The label decides the grade, not the printer. Wax covers paper (CW-11, CW-12), coated paper that needs more takes wax-resin (CW-20, CW-22, CW-25), and the resin CW-28 is listed for polyester, polypropylene, polyimide and film.

Ribbon specification
110mm × 450m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it — if your label is 60mm, order a ribbon a few millimetres wider rather than paying for 110mm and wasting the overhang.
Which grade for a PD45S
The printer does not decide the grade — the label material and the conditions it has to survive do. The PD45S runs all three families.
General industrial labels (Honeywell PC42t, PC43t)
Pharma and compliance labels (Honeywell PM45)
Durable synthetic labels (Honeywell PX940)
High-volume economy paper printing (Honeywell PC42t)
Unsure? The ribbon selector narrows it in two questions, or see the full size chart covering every major printer.
Loading ribbon in a Honeywell printer
Honeywell printers typically accept standard ribbon sizes. The PC42t takes outside-wound ribbon only; the PM42, PM43 and PX940 accept both. Most use a 1-inch core; some compact PC42t Plus versions use ½-inch. Confirm with your printer manual or contact us.
Honeywell PD45S / PD45 ribbon — common questions
What ribbon size does the Honeywell PD45S / PD45 use?+
110mm × 450m on a 1" core, inside or outside wound. At 450m a roll covers roughly 4,500 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.
Is the PD45S inside or outside wound?+
It accepts both inside- and outside-wound ribbon. Tell us which your current rolls are and we will match them.
Which ribbon grade should I use in a PD45S?+
Grade follows the label, not the printer. Industrial units like the PD45S usually run mixed media, so most sites keep a wax for paper and a wax-resin or resin for synthetics rather than compromising on one grade for both.
Can I get a free sample for my PD45S?+
Yes. We manufacture in Badli, New Delhi and send samples so you can print on your own PD45S with your own label stock before ordering volume. Wash-care and resin grades in particular are worth testing rather than taking on spec.
Need a size the PD45S does not take as standard? We slit 25mm – 160mm.
