Honeywell PX940 / PX940V ribbon — size, core and grade

The Honeywell PX940 / PX940V takes 110mm × 450m ribbon on a 1" core, inside or outside wound.

Codewell Image manufactures that ribbon in Badli, New Delhi — wax, wax-resin and resin grades, slit to your label width, with a free sample before you order.

About the PX940

The PX940 is an industrial printer in Honeywell's PX series, and the PX940V adds a built-in barcode verifier that scans at 600dpi. The printers print at 203, 300 or 600dpi. Honeywell's data sheet lists a ribbon spindle for ribbon coated side in and out, and names no optional part for either winding, so order whichever winding your stock uses. The ribbon roll takes a 1-inch core and a maximum diameter of 80mm, which Honeywell puts at approximately 450m. Honeywell gives the ribbon and core width as 51mm to 110mm, so a ribbon narrower than 51mm is outside the stated range even though we slit from 25mm. Print width is 108mm at 203dpi, 105.7mm at 300dpi and 105.6mm at 600dpi. The label sets the grade: wax for paper, wax-resin for coated paper, and resin for polyester and polypropylene.

110mm × 450m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it: you can order a narrower width that is still a few millimetres wider than your label, so less ribbon overhangs and goes to waste.

Which grade for a PX940

The printer does not decide the grade — the label material and the conditions it has to survive do.

Unsure? The ribbon selector narrows it in two questions, or see the full size chart listing the printer models we have checked.

Loading ribbon in a Honeywell printer

Honeywell printers typically accept standard ribbon sizes. The PC42t takes outside-wound ribbon only; the PM42, PM43 and PX940 accept both. Most use a 1-inch core; some compact PC42t Plus versions use ½-inch. Confirm with your printer manual or contact us.

Honeywell PX940 / PX940V ribbon — common questions

What ribbon size does the Honeywell PX940 / PX940V use?+

110mm × 450m on a 1" core, inside or outside wound. At 450m a roll covers roughly 4,500 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.

Is the PX940 inside or outside wound?+

It accepts both inside- and outside-wound ribbon. Tell us which your current rolls are and we will match them.

Which ribbon grade should I use in a PX940?+

Grade follows the label, not the printer. Industrial units like the PX940 usually run mixed media, so most sites keep a wax for paper and a wax-resin or resin for synthetics rather than compromising on one grade for both.

Can I get a free sample for my PX940?+

Yes. We manufacture in Badli, New Delhi and send samples so you can print on your own PX940 with your own label stock before ordering volume. Wash-care and resin grades in particular are worth testing rather than taking on spec.

Need a size the PX940 does not take as standard? We slit 25mm – 160mm.
