Honeywell PM45 ribbon — size, core and grade

The Honeywell PM45 takes 110mm × 450m ribbon on a 1" core, inside or outside wound.

Codewell Image manufactures that ribbon in Badli, New Delhi — wax, wax-resin and resin grades, slit to your label width, with a free sample before you order.

About the PM45

The PM45 is Honeywell's industrial label printer, at 203, 300, 406 or 600dpi. The PM45 datasheet puts print width at 108mm at 203dpi, 105.7mm at 300dpi, 104mm at 406dpi and 105.6mm at 600dpi. The ribbon roll has a diameter of up to 80mm, which Honeywell rates at 450m, on a 1-inch core. The smaller PM45c takes a 61mm roll of 229m, so check which model you have before ordering by length. Honeywell says the PM45 supports ink-in and ink-out ribbons on a 1-inch core, so we cut inside or outside wound to match your stock. Its series datasheet gives ribbon width as 21.6mm to 110mm. That starts below our 25mm narrowest slit, so for labels narrower than that, 25mm is the narrowest ribbon we cut. Wax (CW-11, CW-12) covers paper, wax-resin (CW-15, CW-20, CW-22) covers coated paper, and resin CW-28 covers polyester and polypropylene.

110mm × 450m is the standard size for this model. Because we slit in-house you are not restricted to it — if your label is 60mm, order a ribbon a few millimetres wider rather than paying for 110mm and wasting the overhang.

Which grade for a PM45

The printer does not decide the grade — the label material and the conditions it has to survive do. The PM45 runs all three families.

Unsure? The ribbon selector narrows it in two questions, or see the full size chart covering every major printer.

Loading ribbon in a Honeywell printer

Honeywell printers typically accept standard ribbon sizes. The PC42t takes outside-wound ribbon only; the PM42, PM43 and PX940 accept both. Most use a 1-inch core; some compact PC42t Plus versions use ½-inch. Confirm with your printer manual or contact us.

Honeywell PM45 ribbon — common questions

What ribbon size does the Honeywell PM45 use?+

110mm × 450m on a 1" core, inside or outside wound. At 450m a roll covers roughly 4,500 labels at 100mm pitch. We slit 25mm – 160mm, so a non-standard width for your label is not a problem.

Is the PM45 inside or outside wound?+

It accepts both inside- and outside-wound ribbon. Tell us which your current rolls are and we will match them.

Which ribbon grade should I use in a PM45?+

Grade follows the label, not the printer. Industrial units like the PM45 usually run mixed media, so most sites keep a wax for paper and a wax-resin or resin for synthetics rather than compromising on one grade for both.

Can I get a free sample for my PM45?+

Yes. We manufacture in Badli, New Delhi and send samples so you can print on your own PM45 with your own label stock before ordering volume. Wash-care and resin grades in particular are worth testing rather than taking on spec.

Need a size the PM45 does not take as standard? We slit 25mm – 160mm.
